Beauty in the Banal
A typographic research book that explores the aesthetics of the everyday. Artifacts from direct mail to x-ray film envelopes as well as design were showcased. The cover is unadorned book board, except for a laser-etched grid, reinforcing the idea of beauty in the ordinary. The layered geometric planes within the layouts are inspired by Lissitsky's "Suprematist" paintings. His theories on typography are one of three texts used as body copy for the book.
